Description

ZM7109 Hydrostatic Pressure in Liquids Fluids Engineering Training Equipment Teaching Equipment Didactic Equipment
1. Product Introduction
1.1 Product Description
This equipment is used to study the total hydrostatic pressure, that is, the total pressure exerted by a stationary liquid on a plane or curved surface in contact with it. Hydrostatic pressure refers to the pressure generated by a liquid; in physiological terms, it is the pressure exerted by the liquid accumulated in a part of the body on the surrounding tissues. For example, the pressure of tissue fluid on the capillary walls in physiology. When a portion of water is isolated from a stationary liquid for study (as shown by the dotted line in the diagram), there must be forces that counteract the surrounding forces acting on the isolated surface to keep the water stationary; this is called hydrostatic pressure. Definition of hydrostatic pressure: When a fluid is in equilibrium or relative equilibrium, the stress acting on the fluid is only normal stress, and there is no tangential stress. The negative normal stress on the surface where the fluid acts is the hydrostatic pressure.
Characteristics of hydrostatic pressure: The direction of hydrostatic pressure is necessarily along the inward normal direction of the surface. Because a stationary fluid cannot withstand tensile stress and there is no shear stress, only compressive stress—pressure—exists perpendicular to the inward normal direction of the surface. In a still or relatively still fluid, the hydrostatic pressure at any point is independent of the direction of the surface acting on it, and depends only on the location of that point.
